Here's a little update on our Maya! She is growing by leaps and bounds. She is one solid almost 3 year old - checking in at close to 40 lbs and about 38-39 inches tall. These are all unofficial, but she is our "big girl".
It is amazing how much she is learning and how much she knows already. She sings songs, knows many of her letters, can count to 20 in English - 10 in Spanish, is a whiz at puzzles, her vocabulary is crazy big, she loves to make patterns, can read some short books that we have read many times, and she comes out with new knowledge everyday. A big shout out has to go to Meggie, her babysitter, for this one, as a lot she has learned has come from her days spent at her house. The other day as we were driving through an intersection, Maya says "Green means go, Red means stop, and Yellow means Slow Down". We asked where she learned that, she said "Meggie" with a tone to her voice like she was saying "Duh Mommy and Daddy!"
Our biggest accomplishment the past couple of weeks has been the lack of use of her beloved pacifier. She has loved her "Pap" since like 3 months old and for most of her first year and half, she was rarely seen without it. It was the cause, we believe, of her pronouncing the word milk like "nilk". Since about 18 months, she was only really using it to sleep. However, for the past 2 weeks, she has been not using it for naps, and now for 4 straight nights - NO PACIFIER ALL NIGHT LONG! We are so excited and I am a bit sad, that she gave it up so quickly and easily. Only knowing, that my baby is no longer a baby anymore. She is my big girl.
